Gainesville, Fla. – The Virginia women’s golf team is tied for fourth place following the opening round of the Sun Trust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Cavaliers shot 14-over 294 and trail tournament-leading Ohio State by just two shots.

Senior Elizabeth Brightwell led the Cavaliers by shooting even par 70 to end the first round tied for second place. Lauren Coughlin posted a score of 73 to finish the day in 16th place. Lauren Diaz-Yi is in 38th place with a 75, Portland Rosen stands 47th at 76 and Briana Mao is 52nd with a 77.

Florida’s Karolina Vickova leads the field in stroke place at 1-under 69.

The second round of the tournament will be played Saturday with the final round contested Sunday. The Cavaliers will tee off at 9:45 a.m. while paired with Arizoan and Oklahoma. Live scoring of the tournament is online at Golfstat.com.
