CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Frank helped lead the Cavaliers to a pair of top-15 road victories last week.

Frank posted a pair of singles victories last week in Virginia’s 7-0 win at No. 6 North Carolina and 5-1 win at No. 13 Duke. In the win over the Tar Heels on Friday, sixth-ranked Frank posted a 7-5, 6-1 win over No. 32 Ronnie Schneider at No. 1 singles. On Sunday, he clinched the victory against the Blue Devils with a 6-3, 7-6(5) win over No. 40 Jason Tahir at No. 2 singles.

The award is the second of Frank’s career (first this year) and the third for a Cavalier this season. Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was ACC Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 18 and Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) earned the honor on March 4.

The Cavaliers (12-2, 4-0 ACC) will host three matches this weekend. Virginia will play Miami on Friday at 3 p.m., Florida State on Saturday at 1 p.m., and William & Mary on Sunday at 2 p.m.
