Greensboro, N.C. – Virginia men’s golfers Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Ben Rusch (Weinfelden, Switzerland) have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced by the ACC today. A foreign affairs major, Rusch was a senior during the 2013-14 season. Bard was a freshman for UVa last year.

An All-ACC selection, Rusch was second on the team with a 71.43 stroke average. He had five top-15 finishes during the season highlighted by a runner-up effort at the U.S. Collegiate. He won the ACC individual championship in 2012.

Bard was fourth on the team with a 72.20 stroke average. He tied for the low round of the season by a Cavalier, shooting 8-under 64 during the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which was his collegiate debut. He finished that event with a season-best 9-under 207. Bard had three top-10 finishes during the season including a runner-up effort at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintain a cumulative 3.00 average during his academic career.
