226 Student-Athletes Named to VaSID Academic All-State Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 2013-14 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State team contains 226 student-athletes from 38 colleges and universities across Virginia. To be eligible a student-athlete had to have at least a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore or higher. The team was limited to six student-athletes per institution.

University of Virginia student-athletes named to the team were Jon Fausey (Dalmatia, Pa., wrestling), Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va., men’s tennis), Molly Menchel (Alexandria, Va., women’s soccer), Thomas Porter (Fredericksburg, Va., cross Country/track and field), Barbara Strehler (Richmond, Va., cross country/track and field) and Ellen Williamson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky., swimming and diving).

VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state’s institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, community college and independent levels, provided that individual’s area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
