Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) announced today, July 17, Virginia senior associate athletics director/senior woman administrator Jane Miller is the recipient of its NCAA Division I FBS Administrator of the Year. She is one of eight individuals recognized from various levels of collegiate athletics.

The Administrator of the Year Awards are presented annually to NACWAA members for significant contributions made as athletics administrators. In addition, the Nell Jackson Administrator of the Year Award honors an administrator who exemplifies the personal qualities and professional accomplishments of Dr. Nell Jackson–courage, conviction and perseverance.

Nominated by their peers and selected by the NACWAA Awards Committee for their service during 2013-14, the 2014 honorees are:

NCAA Division I FBS: Jane Miller, Senior Associate Athletics Director/SWA, University of Virginia

NCAA Division I FCS: Dr. Ingrid Wicker-McCree, Director of Athletics, North Carolina Central University

NCAA Division I: Pat Meiser, Director of Athletics/Special Assistant to the President, University of Hartford

NCAA Division II: Lindsay Reeves, Athletic Director, University of North Georgia

NCAA Division III: Kim Blum, Interim Director of Athletics, University of Wisconsin – La Crosse

NAIA/NJCAA/CC: Kelly Perry, Assistant Athletic Director – Compliance, Oklahoma City University

Association/Organization: Bernadette McGlade, Commissioner, Atlantic 10 Conference

Nell Jackson: Ann-Marie Guglieri, Senior Associate Director of Athletics/SWA, Colgate University

Miller is a 31-year veteran of the Virginia athletics department. She is the Chair of the NCAA Division I Championship/Sports Management Cabinet and Chair of the National Women’s Lacrosse Hall of Fame Committee. Prior to working in administration, Miller was the women’s lacrosse coach at Virginia for 12 seasons, winning two national championships and compiling a 145-44 record during her career. Miller coached the Cavalier field hockey program for nine years, going 99-65-7.

Her nominators describe her as an embodiment of the tenacity, persistence and passion required to excel as a woman in the profession. Her unwavering commitment to the student-athlete experience and dedication to diversity and equity has led her to be a role model for students and faculty alike. Miller served on the NACWAA Board of Directors from 2009 to 2013.

Jane Miller is one of the nation’s most outstanding athletics administrators,” said Virginia director of athletics Craig Littlepage. “She has been a valued colleague to all of us throughout the University community, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the NCAA. This is great recognition for Jane and for the University of Virginia and is certainly well-deserved.”

The eight honorees will be celebrated on Oct. 14, in Louisville, Ky., at the 2014 Administrator of the Year Luncheon in conjunction with the 35th Annual NACWAA National Convention.
