CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia midfielder Tara Vittese has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Field Hockey Player of the Week, the second-consecutive honor for the freshman.

Vittese came up big in two victories over top-10 opponents this weekend. In the 2-1 victory at No. 3 Duke, she scored the first Cavalier goal and set up the second score. In Sunday’s 3-2 overtime win over No. 7 Albany, the native of Cherry Hill, N.J., had two assists, including setting up the game-winner 2:52 into the extra period.

Vittese leads the ACC and is ranked 10th in the nation in points with six goals and 11 assists this season. Vittese’s 23 points are seven more than the next closest player in the conference. Vittese currently paces the ACC and is ranked third in the NCAA, averaging 1.22 assists per game.

Vittese shares this week’s honor with Louisville senior back Mallory Mason. Mason was instrumental in the 14th-ranked Cardinals’ 3-2 upset of No. 1 North Carolina.
