Oct. 25, 2014 Wilmington, N.C. – The 18th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team moved into a tie for third place after the second round of play at The Landfall Tradition tournament taking place in Wilmington, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 2-under 286 on Saturday for a two-day total of 2-over 578. Wake Forest and Oklahoma State share the lead in the 18-team field at 575.

Junior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) and sophomore Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) enter Sunday’s final round tied for sixth place at 2-under 142. Diaz-Yi led the Cavaliers during the second round by firing 2-under 70. Szokol shot 1-over 73

UVa senior Briana Mao (Folsom, Calif.) posted a 2-over 74 for the second consecutive day and stands 40th at 148. Junior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) is in 45th place at 149 after shooting even par 72 on Saturday. Freshman Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, Va.) improved to 56th at 150 after carding a score of 1-under 71, her best single-round effort as a collegiate player.Freshman Sarah Kolodzik (Bellbrook, Ohio) is in 73rd place at 153. She is competing as a non-scoring individual.

UCF’s Ashley Holder owns the stoke play lead at 7-under 137. She leads South Carolina’s Nanna Madsen by a single stroke. A total of 11 of the 18 teams competing are ranked in the top-25 of the current Golfstat poll.

Virginia will tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. Sunday during the final round. The Cavaliers will be paired with Florida and Alabama.
