Virginia Competes Against Penn State, Michigan This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving team travels to University Park, Pa., this weekend (Nov. 7-8) to face Penn State and Michigan. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.

This will be the Cavalier women’s first meet of the season and the men’s second after a 183-117 win over Navy on Oct. 24. Senior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) broke the school record on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, while sophomore Matt Lockman (Charlottesville, Va.) swept the sprint freestyle events and junior Yannick Kaeser (Mumpf, Switzerland) claimed the breaststroke events.
Michigan’s women (4-0) are ranked No. 6 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) women’s poll, while Penn State is No. 18. The rankings only reflect those teams who have already competed this season. Virginia’s men are receiving votes in the latest CSCAA men’s poll. Michigan is listed No. 1, while Penn State is ranked No. 18.
Last year, the UVa women defeated the Nittany Lions, 226-127, while the PSU men were victorious, 191-162.
