CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Louisville, Ky., this week for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday at the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. The meet features teams from Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

The women’s 6K race will begin at noon, with the men’s 10K race to follow at 1 p.m. Live results will be available through FlashResults.com.

The top-two teams and top-four individuals at each of the nine regional meets will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships to be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 22. Thirteen teams will also earn at-large bids, to be announced on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The 14th-ranked Virginia women, the reigning NCAA Southeast Regional Champions, are looking for their fifth regional title since 2008 after winning last year at Panorama Farms. The Cavaliers are one of three nationally-ranked squads among the 41 teams in the meet, along with No. 11 North Carolina and No. 18 NC State. Virginia Tech and William & Mary are receiving votes in the national poll.

The No. 28 Cavalier men are looking to advance to the NCAA meet for the third consecutive year after winning the regional meet in 2012 in Louisville and finishing second last year at Panorama Farms. This year’s 37-team meet features four nationally-ranked squads as the Cavaliers are joined by No. 16 Furman, No. 18 NC State and No. 22 North Carolina, while Eastern Kentucky is receiving votes in the national poll.
