CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia volleyball head coach Dennis Hohenshelt announced Monday (Nov. 17) that Harley Sebastian (Atlanta, Ga.), Anna Walsh (Grapevine, Texas) and Kat Young (Chantilly, Va.) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Cavaliers for the 2015 season.

Harley Sebastian
6-4 Outside Hitter
Atlanta, Ga. – The Lovett School
Club Team – A5 Volleyball Club
• 2014 Under Armour All-American honorable mention
• PrepVolleyball.com’s #99 Senior Ace
• 2014 Georgia AA GVCA Player of the Year
• Three-time member of the all-state first team
• Named Area 3-AA Player of the Year

Hohenshelt on Sebastian: “Harley has made tremendous strides in her game over the last ten months. I saw her play last fall and came up with some personal challenges for her to achieve if she wanted to become an elite collegiate volleyball player. Harley responded head-on by dedicating herself in the weight room and in the gym over the spring and summer. Harley is an extremely long six-rotation outside hitter who we are looking to come in and compete right away. She adds size to our lineup and I would expect her to become a dominating player at the net for us. She was named the Georgia AA Player of the Year after also having a fantastic spring club season in which her team finished second in the USAV 17-Under Open Championship.”

Anna Walsh
6-2 Middle
Grapevine, Texas – Colleyville Heritage
Club Team – Texas Advantage Volleyball (TAV)
• 2014 Under Armour First-Team All-American
• PrepVolleyball.com’s #53 Senior Ace
• PrepVolleyball.com All-American
• Helped lead TAV 17 Black to USAV National Championship
• 2013 Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram Player of the Year

Hohenshelt on Walsh: “Anna is someone we have targeted since our arrival on Grounds as we thought she was a middle hitter who could come in and have an immediate impact on the program. She is one of the most decorated high school players to ever join UVa Volleyball as she was the 2013 Dallas Area Player of the Year and has a good chance to repeat that award this year. She was just named an Under Armour First-Team All-American and will compete against the best players in the country in the Under Armour All-Star Game. I would expect Anna to come in and be ready to compete from day one. She is a fantastic blocker and her attacking gradually improves every time I see her. She had a fantastic club season last spring in which she helped her team win the USAV 17-Under Open Championship. Anna is a winner and will bring that attitude into the gym everyday.”

Kat Young
6-3 Middle
Chantilly, Va. – Chantilly High School
Club Team – Virginia Elite
• 2014 Under Armour Watch List
• Member of 2014 All-Concorde Coference First Team
• Helped lead Chantilly to 2014 Concorde Conference regular season title
• Four-time Northern Region Athletic Honor Roll member
• Member of National Honor Society, as well as the Spanish, Science and Math Honor Societies

Hohenshelt on Young: “I am really excited to get Kat in the gym and start working with her. Kat will be the most athletic player that we have recruited over the past three seasons and I am looking forward to getting her volleyball skills to match that athleticism. We have had her at camp the last two summers and she has shown flashes of greatness in that short time. I think she is quick and athletic with a really good jump. We will train her in the middle and think that she can become a dominating attacker and blocker in the ACC.”
