Watch Coach Watson’s Weekly Q&A

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Virginia men’s cross country head coach Pete Watson was named the 2014 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year as the organization announced its regional coach and athlete of the year awards Tuesday.

Watson led the Cavalier men to the NCAA Southeast Region Championship last week in Louisville, Ky. It was Virginia’s second regional title in the past three years as they automatically qualified for this week’s NCAA Championship meet.

The USTFCCCA cross country regional coach of the year award is the first of Watson’s career.

Virginia, ranked No. 13 nationally, will compete at the NCAA Championship meet Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
