Cavalier Divers Head to Ohio State Invitational This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia’s divers travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend (Nov. 21-23) for the Ohio State Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
On Friday, the men’s 1-meter and women’s 3-meter events prelims will begin at 2 p.m. with finals set to start at 7 p.m. Saturday’s action will include men’s 3-meter and women’s 1-meter prelims at 2 p.m. with finals at 8 p.m. On Sunday, both genders will compete on platform at 11 a.m.
Seven UVa divers have qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on at least one board, including senior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.), juniors Carl Buergler (Arlington, Va.), Becca Corbett (Louisville, Ky.), Jordan Sacks (Wilmette, Ill.), Colby Shinholser (Burtonsville, Md.) and Katie Warburg (Wilton, Conn.) and freshman Jake Bowtell (Darien, Conn.).
Kolod was named the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week for his efforts against Navy on Oct. 24, where he broke the school records on both the 1- and 3-meter springboards.
Next up, the Cavalier men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs will travel to Athens, Ga., for the Georgia Fall Invitational Dec. 5-7.
