CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 8 Virginia hosts Tennessee State of the Ohio Valley Conference in non-conference action on Tuesday (Nov. 25). Tipoff at the John Paul Jones Arena is set for 7 p.m.

For Openers

• The Cavaliers meet Tennessee State for the first time.

• The Virginia-Tennessee State game is part of the Barclays Center Classic. UVa defeated Norfolk State 67-39 in its first game of the classic on Nov. 16.

• Virginia is 4-0 for the first time since 2007-08 when the Cavaliers started 5-0.

• Virginia has won each of its first four games by at least 17 points.

• Virginia has a 14-game home winning streak (13 of the 14 victories during the streak have been by double digits).

Virginia meets Tennessee State for the first time and is 2-1 all-time against current Ohio Valley Conference members (1-0 vs. Belmont, 1-0 vs. UT Martin and 0-1 vs. Eastern Kentucky).

Virginia Moves Up to No. 8 in Latest Associated Press Poll

• UVa is ranked No. 8/7 in the latest Associated Press and USA Today coaches’ polls.

• The Cavaliers were ranked No. 9/8 in the AP and USA Today preseason coaches’ polls.

• The No. 9 AP preseason ranking was UVa’s best since a No. 1 ranking to start the 1982-83 season.

• UVa’s No. 3 final AP ranking last season marked its highest final ranking since 1982.

Last Time Out

• Justin Anderson had a game-high 18 points and Malcolm Brogdon added 15 to send UVa to a 59-42 win over George Washington on Nov. 21.

• Darion Atkins matched a career high with 11 rebounds and added three blocks.

• The Cavaliers out-rebounded the Colonials 41-28 and committed eight turnovers.

• UVa trailed at the half (26-22) for the first time this season, but outscored the Colonials 37-16 in the second half.

• Virginia shot a season-low 11.1 percent from 3-point range, shooting 1-9 from long range.
