CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 12th-ranked Virginia wrestling team competes in one of the nation’s most prestigious college tournaments Friday and Saturday at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Tournament Schedule (all times Pacific)
Friday, Dec. 5
9 a.m.: Pigtail Round, Round 1, Round 2, Consolation Pigtails & Consolation Round 1
6 p.m.: Quarterfinals & Consolation Round 2 & 3

Saturday, Dec. 6
9 a.m.: Consolation Round 4
10 a.m.: Semifinals and Consolation Round 5, Consolation Semifinals, Consolation Finals (5th & 6th, 7th & 8th)
3 p.m.: Championship Finals – 1st & 2nd and 3rd & 4th

In addition to the 12th-ranked Cavaliers, the tournament boasts a loaded field that includes nationally ranked Minnesota (2), Cornell (3), Virginia Tech (6), Ohio State (7), Nebraska (8), Michigan (16), Oregon State (18), NC State (20) and Rutgers (23).

The tournament format mirrors that of the NCAA Championships, with each team permitted one wrestler per weight class.

The Latest on the Cavaliers
5-1 in its dual season, Virginia steps into an invitational format this weekend. Nick Sulzer (R-Sr., Cleveland, Ohio) and Blaise Butler (R-Jr., Belvidere, Ill.) each own perfect records this season, as both are 5-0 at 165 and 174, respectively.

After a break for final exams, Virginia returns to dual action on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Bucknell.
