CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 2 Florida defeated No. 10 Virginia 4-1 in quarterfinal action at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb. 7) at Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Junior Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) recorded the lone point for the Cavaliers, who fall to 5-2 with the loss. Florida (5-0) moves on to the semifinals, while the Cavaliers play TCU in consolation action on Sunday (Feb. 8).

The Gators swept the doubles point and recorded singles wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 3 in their fifth consecutive victory. No. 17 Josie Kuhlman and Peggy Porter defeated No. 11 Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.Va.) and Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.) 6-4 on court two. The Gators clinched the point when No. 25 Belinda Woolcock and Brianna Morgan topped Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Epstein 7-6 with a 7-3 score in the tiebreaker on court three. No. 7 Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan added a 7-6 win, including a 7-3 score in the tiebreaker, over No. 22 Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) on court one.

Virginia tied the score at 1-1 when Epstein recorded a three-set win on court five, defeating No. 40 Porter 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Florida then reeled off three straight, three-set wins to gain the victory. No. 9 Kuhlman beat No. 42 Collins 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 on court two. No. 43 Woolcock beat Morton 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on court four and No. 11 Morgan clinched the win with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over No. 16 Nauta on court three.
