CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia will move its upcoming weekend baseball series with Marist from UVa’s Davenport Field to Charleston, S.C., because of recent and projected inclement weather in Charlottesville. Virginia will play four games at three sites in the Charleston area over the course of the weekend.

“With the weather we’ve had and the forecast for the weekend, it became clear that playing at Davenport Field this weekend is not an option,” Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor said. “The only way to play these games is to relocate the series. We thank our fans for their understanding in this unique situation. They’ve played a big part in the success we’ve had at Davenport Field in recent years and we look forward to having a great home-field advantage once again this spring. I appreciate the help of The Citadel, Charleston Southern, the College of Charleston and the Charleston RiverDogs to make this happen on short notice.”

Virginia’s three-game series with Marist will shift to Charleston, and UVa has added a game against LaSalle, a team that was already scheduled be in Charleston for a three-game series against Charleston Southern.

The new weekend schedule:
Friday (Feb. 20), 2 p.m. vs. Marist (at Bishop England High School)
Saturday (Feb. 21), 11 a.m. vs. La Salle (at CSU Ballpark, Charleston Southern)
Saturday (Feb. 21), 5 p.m. vs. Marist (at Patriots Point, College of Charleston)
Sunday (Feb. 22), 11 a.m. vs. Marist (at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, Charleston RiverDogs)

Live statistics (GameTracker) will be available free for fans for all four games. Live audio streaming will be available for all four games. WINA 1070-AM will have the local radio broadcast of the UVa-La Salle game on Saturday.
