CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team travels to Orlando, Fla., this weekend to take part in the Citrus Classic Feb. 20-22.

The Cavaliers (3-6) will face off against Marist (1:15 p.m.) and Jacksonville State (5:45 p.m.) on Friday, George Washington (11 a.m.) and Arkansas (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday and Campbell (10 a.m.) and Elon (12:15 p.m.) on Sunday.

Virginia went 2-2 last weekend at the Eagle Challenge in Apex, N.C. The Cavaliers defeated Omaha, 2-1 in eight innings, and Delaware State, 14-1 in five innings, but fell to NC Central (5-4) and Omaha (9-3).

Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .500 batting average, while freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) is hitting .357 with two home runs and seven RBI. Sophomore Madison Labshere (El Cajon, Calif.) leads the squad with four home runs and 10 RBI, while freshman Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) has hit three round trippers.

The Cavaliers hold the all-time advantage against Campbell (13-4), Elon (9-1) and George Washington (9-0) and is tied with Arkansas (2-2). It will be the first meeting for UVa against Jacksonville State and Marist.

Virginia opens ACC play next weekend when it hosts Pitt in a three game series Feb. 28-March 1. Saturday’s doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. start and Sunday’s single game is slated for a noon start.
