CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 5 Virginia women’s tennis team travels to Pitt and No. 26 Notre Dame for a pair of ACC matches this weekend. The Cavaliers play at Pitt on Friday (Feb. 27) and at Notre Dame on Sunday (March 1). First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Pittsburgh and 11 a.m. in Notre Dame.
Virginia (7-2, 1-0 ACC) opened ACC play with a 6-1 win over then No. 59 Syracuse on Feb. 21. The Cavaliers have also posted ranked wins against Utah, South Carolina, Georgia, USC and TCU. The Cavaliers added a win against in-state rival VCU.
Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) is ranked No. 1 in singles, Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 27, Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is ranked No. 32 and Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) is ranked No. 108.
Virginia newcomers Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.Va.) and Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.) are ranked No. 23 in doubles, while Elbaba and Nauta are ranked No. 42.
The Cavaliers are 1-0 against Pitt, defeating the Panthers 7-0 in Charlottesville last season. Virginia is 2-1 against Notre Dame, including a 6-1 home win last season. Notre Dame’s Quinn Gleason and Monica Robinson are ranked No. 21 in doubles.
