CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior guard Faith Randolph has been selected as the final ACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Randolph scored 23 points and handed out eight assists in Virginia’s upset win over No. 8 Louisville on Sunday. In two games last week, Randolph totaled made 14 field goals (including 6-of-8 from 3-point range) with 13 assists. The Derwood, Maryland, native was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line against Louisville, helping to cement the Cavaliers’ upset victory and nail down the No. 9 seed in the upcoming ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament. Randolph’s performance on Sunday followed a 24-point effort at North Carolina earlier in the week in which she went 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 from the foul line.

This is the first ACC weekly honor of Randolph’s career.

Randolph is the second Cavalier to earn this honor this season. Senior center Sarah Imovbioh (Abuja, Nigeria) was named the ACC Player of the Week after the opening weekend of the 2014-15 season.

Virginia (17-12, 7-9 ACC) is the No. 9 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament, which runs from Wednesday, March 4 through Sunday, March 8 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. As the No. 9 seed, Virginia earned a first-round bye and will face eighth-seeded Miami on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. in a second-round match-up. The winner of that game will advance to play top-seeded Notre Dame on Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
