UVa Women's Golfers Move up to 14th at Rucker Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, S.C. – The 10th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team moved up two spots on the leaderboard to 14th place after 36 holes of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. The Cavaliers shot 19-over 303 on Saturday for a two-day total of 39-over 607. Duke leads the 17-team field at 8-over 576.

Sophomore Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) leads the Cavaliers in ninth place at 4-over 146. She has posted back-to-back rounds of 2-over 73. Junior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) is in 45th place at 152 after carding a second-round score of 80.

Senior Briana Mao (Folsom, Calif.) is in 62nd place at 155 while junior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) is 66th at 156 and freshman Maho Hayakawa (Lake Mary, Fla.) is 76th at 159. Mao shot 75 during the second round, Szokol finished the second day with a 77 and Hayakawa shot 78.

Freshman Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, Va.), who is playing as a non-scoring individual, shot 4-over 75 and is in 40th place at 151.

Duke’s Leona Maguire used a second round 6-under 65 to grab the overall lead at 4-under 138.

Virginia will be paired with Arizona State and Vanderbilt for Sunday’s final round. Those teams will tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. from the 10th tee. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
