CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team plays at in-state foe George Mason Wednesday (March 11) at the George Mason Softball Complex in Fairfax, Va. The doubleheader is set for a 4 p.m. start.

Live statistics for both games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers (4-17) dropped a three-game series at home to Georgia Tech last weekend at The Park. The Yellow Jackets took the first two games Saturday, 4-3 and 7-5, before winning the finale, 7-1, on Sunday.

Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the Cavaliers with a .381 batting average and shares the team lead in RBI at 20 with freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.). Davis paces UVa with 21 runs scored and shares the team lead in home runs at five with fellow freshman Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).

George Mason (0-9) has had its last two weekend tournaments cancelled due to inclement weather. McKenzie Jones leads the Patriots with a .429 batting average.

Virginia leads the all-time series, 55-26, but GMU won last year’s meetings, 17-6 and 15-5, in Charlottesville.

The Cavaliers return to ACC play this weekend (March 14-15) for a three-game series at Louisville. Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game are set for noon starts.
