CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team travels down to Chapel Hill, N.C., this weekend (March 28-29) to face North Carolina in a three-game ACC series.
Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game are set for 1 p.m. starts. Live statistics for all three games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.
Last time out, Virginia (7-26, 1-8 ACC) fell at home to George Washington, 5-2, on Wednesday (March 25) at The Park. Three Cavaliers had two hits including freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.), who hit two doubles.
Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .368 batting average, while senior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) is hitting .344 with four home runs. Davis and fellow freshman Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) lead the squad with five home runs each.
UNC (21-9, 6-2 ACC) dropped a doubleheader against James Madison, 5-3 and 7-0, Wednesday. Taylor Wike leads the Tar Heels with a .407 batting average, while Kristen Brown paces the team with 14 home runs. Kaylee Carlson is 11-4 on the season with a 2.96 ERA.
North Carolina leads the all-time series, 80-30-1, and swept a three-game series in Charlottesville in 2014.
Next up, the Cavaliers begin a 12-game home stand with a doubleheader against Western Carolina on March 31. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
