CHARLOTTEVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team begins a 12-game homestand Tuesday with a doubleheader against Western Carolina at The Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Admission to Virginia home games at The Park is free of charge. Live statistics for both games will be available at VirginiaSports.com. The first game will be streamed live as part of the Cavaliers Live subscription package.

Virginia (7-29) dropped a three-game series at North Carolina last weekend (March 28-29) in Chapel Hill, N.C. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .368 batting average and 31 RBI, while freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) paces the squad with six home runs, 32 runs and 13 doubles.

Western Carolina (14-20) went 1-2 at Mercer last weekend in Macon, Ga. Courtney Price leads the Catamounts with a .340 batting average, six home runs and 24 RBI. Jordan Garrett has seen most of the action in the circle and is 8-9 with a 2.31 ERA.

It is the first meeting between the two programs.

Next up, the Cavaliers host Boston College this weekend (April 3-4). Friday’s doubleheader is set to begin at 5 p.m. and Saturday’s single game is slated for a noon start.
