CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team continues its 12-game home stand with a three-game series against Boston College this weekend (April 3-4) at The Park.

Admission to all Virginia softball home games is free of charge. Live statistics for all three games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Mouth Wide Open food truck will be providing concessions for all three games. On Saturday, there will be a post-game autograph session with the Cavaliers along with a Candy Dash on the field for youth in attendance.

The Cavaliers (9-29, 1-11 ACC) opened the home stand with a doubleheader sweep of Western Carolina on March 31, winning the first game, 2-1, before capturing the second, 10-1 in five innings. Freshman twin sisters Alex and Andie Formby (Orange, Calif.) each threw a complete game win for the Cavaliers.

Virginia has hit 37 home runs this season and is three shy of the program’s single-season record of 40, set in 2009. Freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) leads the squad with six and eight Cavaliers have at least three long balls. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .367 batting average.

Boston College (15-13, 0-6 ACC) comes into the weekend after coming from behind to defeat Bryant, 7-6, on March 29. Annie Murphy leads the Eagles with a .318 batting average and Allyson Frei is 11-9 with a 2.85 ERA.

BC owns a 15-9 advantage in the all-time series and swept a three-game series in Chestnut Hill, Mass., last year.

Up next, the Cavaliers continue the home stand with a doubleheader against Virginia Tech on April 8 at 5 p.m. The doubleheader will be part of the Commonwealth Clash rivalry series between Virginia and Virginia Tech.
