LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 9 Virginia blanked Louisville 7-0 in ACC women’s tennis action on Saturday (April 4) at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cavaliers improved to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the ACC with their third consecutive win, while Louisville fell to 10-12, 2-7 ACC.

The Cavaliers claimed the doubles point and swept singles with wins from Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.), Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas), Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and Marie Faure (Toulouse, France).

The Cavaliers clinched the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. Collins and Morton defeated Elle Stokes and Manuela Velasquez 8-3 on court one. Virginia clinched the team point on court three as Elbaba and Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.Va.) topped Cassie Pough and Ariana Rodriguez 8-3. Nauta and Epstein held a 7-4 lead over Olivia Boesing and Ellie Gerlach on court two when the team point was clinched.

In singles, Morton beat Chloe Willetts 6-1, 6-3 on court four and No. 3 Elbaba handled Stokes 6-0, 6-1 on court one. No. 34 Nauta clinched the team win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Boesing on court three. No. 31 Collins beat Jessie Lynn Paul 6-1, 6-1 on court two. Epstein rallied in a 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 win over Pough on court five and Faure beat Gerlach 7-6, 6-4 on court six.

Virginia returns to action at second-ranked North Carolina on Friday, April 10. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
