CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team closes its home ACC schedule this weekend (April 11-12) with a three-game series against NC State at The Park. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Sunday’s single game is slated for a noon start.

Admission to Virginia softball home games is free of charge. Live statistics of all three games will be available at VirginiaSports.com. Saturday’s games will be streamed live through the Cavaliers Live subscription package.

Saturday is Strike Out Cancer Day at The Park. The first 150 fans in attendance will receive pink Virginia softball t-shirts. Sunday will be Senior Day as the Cavaliers honor their two seniors, Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Heidi Velk (Murrieta, Calif.), in a pre-game ceremony.

Virginia (12-31, 3-12 ACC) split a non-conference doubleheader with in-state rival Virginia Tech Wednesday (April 8) at The Park. The Hokies won the first game, 7-4, but freshman twin sisters Alex and Andie Formby (Orange, Calif.) combined for a no-hitter in the second game as UVa won 5-2.

The Cavaliers have broken their single-season team home run record this season with 44 long balls, led by freshmen Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) and Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), who have seven each. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .378 batting average, while fellow sophomore Iyana Hughes (Manteca, Calif.) is hitting .342 with four home runs.

NC State (23-15, 7-5 ACC) defeated East Carolina, 6-1, on April 8 in Greenville, N.C., in its last outing. Renada Davis leads the Wolfpack with a .375 batting average and eight home runs. Emily Weiman is 18-10 with a 2.50 ERA in the circle.

The Wolfpack own a 22-14 all-time advantage over UVa and swept a three-game series last year in Raleigh, N.C.

Up next, the Cavaliers conclude their home schedule with a doubleheader against Longwood on April 15 at 5 p.m.
