CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team concludes its home schedule Wednesday evening (April 15) with a doubleheader against Longwood at 5 p.m.

Admission to Virginia softball home games at The Park is free of charge. Live statistics for both games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers (13-33) went 1-2 against NC State last weekend at The Park. UVa won the first game, 3-2, but dropped the last two games, 8-0 and 6-0. Virginia has broken its team single-season home run record this year with 45 long balls, led by freshmen Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) and Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) who each have seven home runs.

Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .373 batting average, while senior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) leads the ACC in triples with five.

Longwood (20-21) posted a three-game sweep over Gardner-Webb last weekend in Farmville, Va. Megan Baltzell leads the Lancers with a .374 batting average, 19 home runs and 46 RBI. Elizabeth McCarthy is 16-10 with a 3.50 ERA in the circle.

The Lancers hold a slim 14-13 all-time advantage in the series after sweeping a 2014 doubleheader in Farmville.

Up next, the Cavaliers travel to Tallahassee, Fla., April 18-19 for a three-game series at Florida State. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, while Sunday’s single game is slated for 11 a.m.
