CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman guard Mikayla Venson (Arlington, Va.) has been invited by USA Basketball and the Women’s Junior National Team Committee to participate in the 2015 National Team Trials May 14-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Venson will by vying for a spot on the 12-player squad that will be competing at the FIBA Under-19 World Championships July 18-26 in Chekhov, Russia.

Venson averaged 11.9 points per game in her rookie season with Virginia, earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team. Venson set the Virginia freshman record for made-three-pointers in a season, converting 61, and ranked second in the conference with a 41.2 percent three-point-shooting efficiency.

Venson attended the 2011 U16 USA Basketball National Team Trials in Colorado Springs, but was not named to the final roster.
