CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team travels to Tallahassee, Fla., this weekend (April 18-19) for a three-game series against No. 10 Florida State at Joanne Graf Field.

Saturday’s doubleheader has been moved to an 11 a.m. start due to inclement weather in the forecast for Tallahassee. Sunday’s single game is slated for an 11 a.m. start as well. Live statistics for all three games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia (15-33, 4-14 ACC) swept Longwood Wednesday night at The Park with two walk-off victories, 7-6 and 6-4. In the second game, senior Heidi Velk (Murrieta, Calif.) hit two home runs, including a three-run shot to win the game in the seventh inning.

The Cavaliers have 51 home runs, 11 more than their previous team single-season record, and are led by freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.), who has nine. Davis ranks in a tie for sixth for the most extra-base hits in a single season in program history and is in a tie for ninth with 41 runs. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) is leading the team with a .389 batting average.

Florida State (34-11, 14-3 ACC) split a pair of games against Louisville last weekend in Louisville, Ky. Lacey Waldrop leads the Seminoles with a 22-5 record and a 1.34 ERA in the circle. Jessica Warren leads the team with 12 home runs and a .352 batting average.

The Seminoles lead the all-time series 76-18 and won two of three games last year in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers came from 8-2 down to win 11-9 in the first game of the series.

Next up, Virginia travels to Lynchburg, Va., April 22 to take on Liberty in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
