SYRACUSE, N.Y.–The Virginia softball team fell in its season finale at Syracuse, 11-2 in five innings, Sunday afternoon (April 26) at Skytop Softball Stadium.

The Orange (20-26, 4-13 ACC) used a five-run third inning and a four-run fourth to break open the game.

Virginia (16-40, 4-20 ACC) earned its two runs on a two-run home run by senior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) in her final at-bat in a Cavalier uniform. It was her fifth of the season.

Junior Aimee Chapdelaine (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) took the loss (5-6), throwing two-plus innings while allowing five runs. Freshman Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) allowed five runs in two runs of relief.

Syracuse’s Jocelyn Cater (14-17) earned the win, throwing a complete game with two runs (one earned) allowed.

Virginia finished the season with a team single-season record of 55 home runs. The Cavaliers also earned program top-10 single-season marks for extra-base hits (136 — tied for second), doubles (68 — sixth), walks (182, tied for fourth), RBI (226 — fifth), runs (245 — seventh) and on-base percentage (.350 — eighth).
