CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia sophomore Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) earned ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week for the second straight week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Mihaljevic broke his own school record in the men’s discus last week at the Penn Relays.

Mihaljevic competed in a pair of events at the prestigious meet last week in Philadelphia. He was runner-up in the men’s discus competition with a mark of 207-11, bettering his school record from a week earlier by over five feet. It was the second-longest mark in the nation this season as he was the Penn Relays runner-up to national leader Rodney Brown of LSU. In the shot put, Mihaljevic was fourth at the Penn Relays with a mark of 63-1.5, just shy of his school record 66-1.75 from earlier this season, which ranks him sixth nationally.

It is the third ACC Performer of the Week award of Mihaljevic’s career. He was also honored during the indoor season on January 27.

Mihaljevic and the Cavaliers will return to action on May 8 with the Virginia Grand Prix. It is the final home meet of the year at Lannigan Field.
