CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Virginia softball head coach Blake Miller announced Tuesday (June 2) that Lexi Mettler will join the Cavaliers in the fall of 2015.

Mettler, a 5-9 pitcher, first baseman and outfielder from Turlock, Calif., was the 2015 Central California Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a three-time first-team all-league selection. In addition to her athletic accolades, Mettler was named to the Central California Conference Academic All-League team four times and was honored with the US Marine Corps Scholar-Athlete Award.

“Lexi is a solid, young, strong power-pitcher,” Miller said. “She is very versatile and aggressive in the circle, throws hard up and down with a good change up. She will be a key element of a young pitching staff that will lead our team into the future.”

This brings the Cavaliers’ incoming class to six, with Mettler joining Allie Arneson, Olivia Gott, Tia Mitchell, Erika Osherow and Lacy Smith, who all signed in the fall.
