WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Three current members of the Virginia men’s tennis team are competing this week at the ITF Futures Tour event at Wake Forest University. The tournament is a $15,000 event and features eight players ranked in the top 600 of the ATP rankings.

Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) advanced to the second round with a 6-3, 6-2 win over qualifier Serge Becerra Jeria of Chile. He will play seventh-seeded Sekou Bangoura, a former Florida standout, in the round of 16.

Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) downed qualifier Robert Kelly, currently a player at North Carolina, in the first round, 6-1, 7-5. He will play top-seeded Matija Pecotic of Croatia in the second round. Pecotic opened the tournament with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Calif.)

Virginia alumnus Sanam Singh (Class of 2011), the tournament’s No. 4 seed, opened play with a three-set win over qualifier Sebastian Beltrame.

In doubles, the pair of Kwiatkowski and Altamirano won their opening round match, defeating Bangoura and former Kentucky All-American Eric Quigley, 6-1, 6-3.
