Johnstown, Pa. – Rising senior men’s golfer Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) used a final round score of 4-under 66 to win the prestigious Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pa. The event, in its 62nd year, is considered one of the top amateur golf tournaments held in the United States and is classified as a Category A event by the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Bard shot 4-under 66 during Saturday’s final round of the four-day, 72-hole event to take medalist honors. He started the day trailing tournament leader Chase Koepka of South Florida by two strokes. It did not take the All-ACC performer long to gain the lead. After four holes Bard held a two-shot lead and carried that to the victory.

Bard finished the tournament at 12-under 268 and won by one stroke over Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern. Bard posted rounds of 67, 68 and 67 during the first three days of play.

Considered one of the top amateur events in the nation, the list of previous champions includes Ricky Fowler, Web Simpson, Lucas Glover, Scott Verplank, Brad Faxon, Bobbly Clampett and Ben Crenshaw.
