Bard and Stanger Named to ACC All-Academic Team

Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia sophomores Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s All-Academic Team. Bard is one of five ACC golfers to be honored on both the All-ACC and All-Academic teams this year. Bard is majoring in foreign affairs and Stanger is commerce major.
Bard, a sophomore, was second on the team with a 71.45 stroke average. He won the U.S. Collegiate title and had five total top-10 finishes during the season.
Stanger played in 11 tournaments this season and posted a 73.44 stroke average. He led the team in scoring twice and topped his year with a seventh-place finish at the Northern Intercollegiate.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
