CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Seven members of the Virginia track and field program have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.

Five men, including junior Christian Lavorgna (Jefferson, N.J.), sophomores Thomas Madden (Front Royal, Va.) and Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and freshmen Jack Lint (Westerville, Ohio) and Chase Weaverling (Darnestown, Md.), and senior Sarah DeVita (Ridgewood, N.J.) and sophomore Sarah Fakler (Phoenix, Ariz.) of the women’s team were honored.

Fakler was named to the team for the second-consecutive year, while DeVita, Lavorgna, Lint, Madden, Mihaljevic and Weaverling were honored for the first time.

Mihaljevic was named to both the indoor and outdoor All-ACC Academic Teams, while Lint was named to the indoor squad and Madden was honored on the outdoor team. Fakler earned All-ACC Academic honors during the cross country season.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of two athletic standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
