Cavaliers Conclude Action at Phillips 66 National Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia swimmers recently concluded action at the Phillips 66 National Championships in San Antonio, Texas. The Cavaliers reached 21 U.S. Olympic Trials standards at the meet.
Sophomore Jennifer Marrkand (Westford, Mass.), the 2015 ACC Freshman of the Year, finished 11th in women’s 200-meter butterfly, while junior Austin Quinn (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) was 16th in the men’s 200-meter backstroke.
Freshman Megan Moroney (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) qualified for two B-finals, placing 13th in the 100-meter freestyle and 15th in the 200-meter freestyle.
Junior Kaitlyn Jones (Newark, Del.), Marrkand, Moroney and Quinn each hit Olympic Trials cuts in three events each, while senior Courtney Bartholomew (Holland, Mich.), sophomore Jessie Gvozdas (Henrico, Va.) and freshman Sam Magnan (Bethlehem, Pa.) each earned two standards.
