CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team, along with four individual student-athletes, were recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association as earning academic honors for the 2015 season.

The IWLCA recognized 85 schools to the Division I Academic Honor Squad. Each team that had a GPA of 3.0 or higher earned the honor. Virginia was one of four teams from the ACC among the honorees.

Along with the team, Liza Blue (Butler, Md.), Daniela Eppler (Baltimore, Md.), Courtney Swan (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Sarah Gillespie (Mendham, N.J.) were among the record 858 student-athletes to be included in the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.

Last May, Blue graduated with a masters in kinesiology, Eppler and Swan earned bachelors degrees in foreign affairs and kinesiology, respectively. Gillespie will return for her senior season in 2016 and is majoring in global public health.

All honored student-athletes achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.
