CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Seven former Virginia Cavaliers are set to compete at the 2015 FISA World Rowing Championships, to be held in Aiguebelette, France, Aug. 30-Sept. 6.

Susanne Grainger (’13) and Christine Roper (’11), who earned silver in the Canadian women’s eight in 2014, are back representing their country in the same event. The duo were part of Canada’s eight that earned gold at the World Rowing Cup III regatta in July.

Constanze Duell (’14) and Katrin Reinert (’11) will compete in the German women’s four. Reinert is making her fourth appearance at the World Championships, while Duell is making her first.

Kristine O’Brien (’13) will battle against Duell and Reinert in her World Championship debut in the American women’s four.

Inge Janssen (’10) is set to compete for The Netherlands in the women’s quad after placing seventh in the same event at last year’s World Championships. Janssen also placed sixth in the women’s single at the 2013 World Championships.

Former Virginia volleyball and softball player Meghan O’Leary (’08) makes her third consecutive World Championship appearance in the U.S. women’s double. She placed sixth a year ago.

The group represents the largest-ever contingent from Virginia at a single World Rowing Championship regatta, surpassing last year’s total of six competitors.
