CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Sophomore midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) has been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, in honors announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday (Sept. 1). Vittese scored the first goal of the season for the Cavaliers 2:19 into the game and added two assists to lead the offense in a 6-0 victory in the season opener against Drexel on Friday. On Sunday against No. 7 Penn State, Vittese scored the game-tying goal with 1:23 remaining. In overtime, she fired a shot that was saved but rebounded to Nikki Freeman, who scored the game winner.

This is the third ACC Player of the Week honor Vittese has earned in her career.

Next up, the Cavaliers begin back-to-back weekend road trips by playing at Rutgers on Friday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. followed by a Sunday contest at No. 15 Princeton. The Rutgers game will be streamed online as part of the BTN Plus subscription package. The Cavaliers will be back at home on Friday, Sept. 18 when they host No. 5 Duke at 6 p.m. at Turf Field.
