Men Tabbed Second, Women Third in ACC Preseason Cross Country Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C.-The Virginia’s men’s cross country team was picked to finish second and the women’s program was tabbed third in the ACC Preseason Cross Country Poll, the conference announced Wednesday (Sept. 2).
The Cavalier men were picked to place second behind two-time defending ACC Champion Syracuse. The Cavaliers are one of four ACC schools in the national rankings. Syracuse leads conference teams in the men’s poll with a No. 3 national ranking. Virginia is ranked ninth, followed by North Carolina at No. 19 and Florida State at No. 27.
The Virginia women were picked to finish third, the same position they finished at the 2014 ACC Championship. Notre Dame edged out NC State by a single point to finish atop the ACC preseason women’s poll. The Cavaliers earned a No. 16 preseason national ranking, while Syracuse is 17th, NC State 18th and North Carolina 19th. Notre Dame checked in at No. 21, followed by Florida State at No. 25.
The Cavalier programs open the 2015 season with the UVa Duals Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.
