CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Lucy Hyams has been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday (Sept. 22) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Hyams had a hand in three of Virginia’s four goals in 4-2 win over No. 7 Duke on Friday. She assisted on the first goal, setting Riley Tata up for a tap in 3:44 into the game and then gave the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead seven minutes into the game after dribbling past defenders, into the circle and firing off a shot. The junior midfielder from Whitstable, England, got her second assist of the day by starting a fast break and finding Caleigh Foust for a 3-0 lead.

This is Hyams’ first ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week honor.

The No. 4 Cavaliers (8-0) will take another undefeated team, No. 2 Syracuse (7-0, 2-0 ACC), on Friday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y. before returning home to host No. 3 North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at Turf Field.
