GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the third time this season, and second-straight week, Virginia volleyball first-year Anna Walsh (Grapevine, Texas) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week.

Walsh is the first Cavalier to earn the freshman weekly honor three times in a season. The middle hitter averaged 2.89 kills per set and 0.89 blocks per set in Virginia’s matches against Duke and Wake Forest.

She led UVa with career highs of 18 kills and five blocks, while compiling a .500 hitting percentage in the win over Duke, ending a 17-match losing streak to the Blue Devils. Walsh recorded eight kills and three blocks against Wake Forest.

The Cavaliers will be back in Memorial Gymnasium this week to host Pittsburgh in their ACC home opener on Friday (Oct. 2) before welcoming Virginia Tech in a Commonwealth Clash match on Saturday (Oct. 3).
