PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Virginia women’s tennis team had a pair of competitors hit the court in the finals of the ITA All-American Championships qualifying rounds on Wednesday, but losses met the Cavaliers on both courts.

Senior Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) fell in singles action with a spot in Thursday’s main draw on the line. Nauta lost to Breauna Addison of Texas by a score of 6-4, 6-1. The Cavalier senior picked up two wins on Tuesday to advance to the Wednesday matchup.

Nauta paired with senior Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) in doubles action, falling by a score of 8-5 to a doubles team from Baylor with a chance to advance to the main draw on the line.

Collins will continue to compete in the event, participating in singles play when the main draw of the tournament begins on Thursday. She will be joined by Cavalier senior Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) in singles competition. Collins is the seventh seed in the event, while Elbaba is the second seed.

Collins will face Giuliana Olmos of Southern California in the first round of play, while Elbaba will face Sinead Lohan of Miami. The two Cavaliers are positioned on opposite sides of the bracket and would not face each other until the finals on Sunday.
