Shakyna Payne played three years of varsity basketball at Etowah before finishing her senior year at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy. Payne was an honorable mention All-County player in 2011 before earning second-team honors in 2012 and then being named to the first-team in 2013. A 2014 Atlanta Journal Constitution All-State Class A Second Team selection, she averaged 14.2 points with 7.3 rebounds per game her senior campaign. Payne scored over 1,100 points in her prep career.
