HOUSTON, Texas – Four Virginia men’s tennis players competed at the Texas Tamale Company Houston Cup, a $15K Futures Tournament being held Oct. 13-18 at Jack Hess Tennis Stadium at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) was the lone Cavalier to advance to the second round, winning his first-round match 6-4, 6-1 over his teammate, sophomore Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Ca.). Ritschard fell in the round of 16 6-3, 7-6 (5) to Rishab Agarwal.

Senior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) fell in the opening round 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Alex Rybakov while sophomore Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.) lost 6-4, 6-3 to top-seed Eric Quigley.

Shane and Altamirano earned wild card entries into the main draw. Wiersholm and Ritschard earned their spots in the main draw by playing in the qualifier.
