CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four members of the Virginia women’s tennis team travel to New York City this weekend to compete in the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, with competition set to begin on Thursday (Nov. 12).

Seniors Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) will compete in singles play, while Collins will pair up with freshman Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Me.) and Elbaba will pair with senior Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.) in doubles action.

The top seed in the singles bracket, Collins will open competition on Thursday at 9 a.m. against Katrina Adamovic of Oklahoma State. The sixth-seeded player in singles play, Elbaba will compete on the other side of the bracket against Giuliana Olmos of Southern California at 10:30 a.m.

Doubles competition in the event also begins on Thursday with both Virginia teams earning a bye in the first round on opposite sides of the bracket. The pairing of Collins and Kelley will face Kiara Fabikova and Olivia Hauger of California at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the pairing of Elbaba and Morton will face Florida’s Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship runs through Sunday. It’s the final action of the fall for the Cavaliers. Virginia will open the spring season on February 19, 2016, hosting Alabama.
