CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia rowing head coach Kevin Sauer announced the Cavaliers’ 2015 schedule on Tuesday (Nov. 17). The six-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference Champions will compete in eight regattas.

Virginia opens the 2016 season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, set for March 12-13 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Last year, the Cavaliers won 14 of 15 races at the regatta, which has served as UVA’s official Spring opener for several seasons.

The Cavaliers will host two regattas on the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va. The first competition will be against Yale on March 20, with the second against Duke on April 9. In between the two home regattas, the Cavaliers will compete against Michigan and three-time defending NCAA Champion Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on April 2 in Columbus, Ohio.

Virginia closes out regular season competition with the Clemson Invite on April 16-17 in Clemson, S.C., and a regatta against Texas on April 30 in Austin,Texas.

The 17th ACC Rowing Championships will be held May 13-14 in Clemson, S.C., marking the seventh-straight year the Tigers have hosted the regatta. Virginia has won 15 of the 16 conference championships and has claimed 59 of the 65 events contested. The conference regatta will once again have five events, including the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four.

For the second consecutive season, Gold River, Calif., will be the host site of the NCAA Championships, to be held May 27-29. The Cavaliers placed fifth in the team standings and the Varsity Four won the NCAA Championship, the ninth boat national championship in program history.
