2016 Lacrosse Ticket Information
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –
Virginia announced its 2016 women’s lacrosse schedule on Tuesday (Dec. 1). The slate features seven home games and 12 opponents that played in the 2015 NCAA championships. Season tickets are now on sale and may be purchased online at VirginiaSports.com, by phone at (800) 542-8821 or in-person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office.

“We are excited to welcome back a couple of opponents, particularly Maryland, after being off the schedule for a year,” head coach Julie Myers said. “We will compete against some of the best teams in the country in addition to playing in the ACC, which is always the dominant conference.”

The Cavaliers, who competed in the NCAA championships for the 20th-consecutive season in 2015, open the 2016 campaign against Northwestern on Saturday, Feb. 13 in Kennesaw, Ga.

The 2016 home schedule includes contests with Richmond (Feb. 24), Penn State (Feb. 27), William & Mary (March 2), Syracuse (March 5), North Carolina (March 12), James Madison (March 23), and Boston College (April 2).

The Cavaliers will travel to Princeton (Feb. 20), Loyola (March 9), Notre Dame (March 19), Duke (March 26), Navy (April 6), Louisville (April 16), Maryland (April 20) and Virginia Tech (April 22).

The ACC championships will be held April 28-May 1 in Blacksburg, Va.

“After a solid performance in fall ball, we are excited to buckle down and get ready to play Northwestern and Princeton to begin the season in February.” Myers added. “We always try to balance our schedule with tough non-conference games. At the end of the day we really believe in true competition to get our team ready. We appreciate having those 12 tournament teams on the schedule, but we know we have our work cut out for us at the same time.”

Team Highlights
Virginia returns four players who started all 19 games last season, including sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk (Severna Park, Md.). Vander Kolk earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors after playing all but four minutes in goal for the Cavaliers and ranking second in the ACC in saves per game (7.47). UVA has added 10 newcomers, and they will look to replace the seven seniors who graduated in 2015.
