CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia senior midfielder Todd Wharton (Sr., Glen Allen, Va.) was named to the National Soccer Coaches of America’s All-South Region Team, announced Wednesday by the NSCAA. Wharton was a third-team midfield selection.

A two-time All-ACC honoree after earning second-team honors in 2015, Wharton started all 18 Virginia matches, scoring a goal and adding three assists out of his holding midfield position. The team captain played the most minutes of any Virginia field player (1,673 of a possible 1,680).

Wharton was a four-year starter at midfield, making 81 career starts and playing in 85 matches. He scored a goal on a penalty kick during the regular-season match at Notre Dame and assisted on UVA goals against Charlotte, George Mason and Duke.

Wharton also was one of 30 candidates for Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for men’s soccer.
